The Bridge, Specimen Days, Being Music, The Astronaut’s Tale, Wilde, Right River…. are all tremendously poetic musical achievements. The skill, dramatic impact, narrative subtlety and sheer beauty of Charles’ work make him the finest American composer since Samuel Barber. A class act in a class by himself.
