A good time is to be had this Saturday night at Zankel Hall. Chris Thile and The Tensions Mountain Boys will premiere his bluegrass/classical suite “The Blind Leading the Blind.” As long as your sensibilities are broader than “Sator Arepo tenet opera rotas,” you should have no problem.
Still: let’s keep ’em honest. If you will promise us a well-edited and not too long-winded review, Jerry and I will in turn throw our estimate clout around and get you in for free.

Speaking of bluegrass, how about a round of random and rapturous applause for Franco Donatoni!
No special reason to clap. I’m researching a dissertation proposal at the moment, and I think I can get a solid chapter out of Donatoni’s irresistable “Francoise Variationen.” Yum, yum, yum.
I’ve loved Donatoni’s vibraphone solo “Omar” since I first got Markos Leoson’s disc (it took me a bit of searching to get the score since one has to deal with Ricordi.) Now that I’ve got a better vibraphone, it’s on the ‘to do list.’ I find the early Concertino for Strings, Brass, and Timpani to be something I’d love to get the call to perform. It’s a shame it’s not heard more in concert on this side of the pond.
I don’t know about “bluegrass/classical”, but I’ll clap for Franco Donatoni.
