One interesting concert this summer is our annual summer solstice concert, called Garden of Memory, which takes place in a gorgeous labyrinthine columbarium and mausoleum in Oakland, in which about thirty different musicians and ensembles perform simultaneously. This year Terry Riley, Paul Dresher, Todd Reynolds, Monique Buzzarte, Victoria Jordanova, Ellen Fullman, Henry Kaiser, Amy X. Neuburg, and many others will be playing (the complete list is at www.gardenofmemory.com). The audience, which usually numbers about 1200, wanders at will, encountering the performances amidst the beautiful gardens, fountains, stained glass skylights, and luminous Gothic architecture of the building. New Music Bay Area presents this event every year on June 21 from 5 to 9 pm.
