This is going to be one humdinger of a concert. I became aware of Zuckerman's music through Contemporaneous, have listened to samples of Music in Pluralism Zuckerman has kindly made available online, and very much look forward to hearing the entire piece. Paired with Mattingly's stunning Atlas of Somewhere on the Way to Howland Island, it's going to be quite the night. Last not least, we get two helpings of the indomitable David Bloom conducting. You're very right, also, to point out the initiative and persistence required to bring into being and sustain an ensemble to play new works. We're very lucky, as listeners, that people like Zuckerman and Bloom and Mattingly (the co-artistic directors of Contemporaneous) have taken it on. It's a thrilling time to be a listener of new music.
