Thank you, Philip, for your wonderful memories of Fischer-Dieskau. I also have great impressions of him in NY, where I first heard him in 1972 with the NY Phil. Then I heard all his recitals during the 70's-1988. I often met him, wrote to him, and always received a response within a few weeks. He sent wonderful signed photos and in later years, reproductions of his artwork. A few years ago I sent him a live recording of his own Carnegie Hall recital fron 1964, which he did not have. This was the Wolf program with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, accompanied by Gerald Moore. There are so many more stories and memories.
