Summer ad Parnassum (4:1 Dorian)

It has been a while, I took a week off to do some other projects (mostly sewing). But I’m back in action. Woo.

4:1 Above Cantus

What I like: This one is okay. I did some last minute revisions when I realized that the first four measures had a range of a perfect 4th. I opened it up a bit and I enjoy the results.

What I don’t like: When my first counterpoint teacher labeled my cambiata as “unfortunate,” I’ve been obsessed with using them. This one doesn’t use any. I am grouchy because of it.

4:1 Below Cantus

What I like: I like the contour of this counterpoint more than the one above. In general, I like this one a lot.

What I don’t like: Again, no cambiata, but that is hardly a real problem. 4:1 is more difficult for me since the lines just seem to chatter away. I’m not accustomed to writing lines that move this quickly.
