Violin Works of Lawrence Dillon to be Presented on February 20 at Santa Fe New Music in Santa Fe, New Mexico
Posted by sequenza21 in Concert AnnouncementTwo violin works by Lawrence Dillon will be presented by Piotr Szewczyk as part of his Violin Futura concert on Wednesday, February 20 – 7:00 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Center, Paseo de Peralta in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Mr. Szewczyk will present the World Premiere of Dillon’s Fifteen Minutes, a set of 16 brief works written for the violinist. The composer has written about the new work, “Fifteen Minutes is crazy virtuosic, and just plain crazy besides, there’s a movement with kazoo, there’s a rather rude use of a familiar Chopin tune, there’s a movement with a kitchen sink in it…” Also on the program is Mister Blister, a 3-minute presto for solo violin that has become a fixture of these Violin Futura programs.
Other composers to be presented include Piotr Szewczyk, John Kennedy, Carson P. Cooman, Mason Bates, Patrick Castillo and Jeff Harrington.
