New York’s Second Instrumental Unit is very excited to present several concerts at this year’s ACA Festival (American Composers Alliance) on June 6th and 7th. This will be the Unit’s second season as resident ensemble for ACA Composers. The June 6th concert at 7:30 will include small chamber works and feature the iO String Quartet, as well as members of the Second Instrumental Unit. There are two concerts on June 7th, one at 4:00 and the other in the evening beginning at 7:30. The afternoon concert is a special collaboration between ACA, NYWC (New York Women Composers), and the Second Instrumental Unit. Three works have been chosen from a “call for scores” selection process, including works by Eleanor Aversa, Lisa Hogan, and Margarita Zelenaia. Funding for this concert is due in part by the 2007 NYWC Seed Money Grant, which the Unit was chosen to receive. The evening concert, the last event of the festival, will feature large ensemble works by Hubert Howe, Richard Cameron-Wolfe, and Raoul Pleskow. All concerts will take place at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre at Peter Norton Symphony space located at 2537 Broadway (at 95th st.). Please visit www.composers.com for more information.
