Chamber Music of Dan Locklair to Be Presented on July 26 and 27 by Summerfest in Kansas City, Missouri
Posted by sequenza21 in Concert AnnouncementAmerican composer Dan Locklair’s Reynolda Reflections for flute, cello and piano, will be performed by the Summerfest Chamber Ensemble on Saturday, July 26, 7 p.m. at White Recital Hall, 4949 Cherry in Kansas City, Missouri, and on Sunday, July 27 – 5 p.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church., 1307 Holmes, also in Kansas City. Both events are part of the Summerfest Concert series.
Each of Reynolda Reflections‘ five movements was inspired by paintings in the collection at Reynolda House Museum of American Art in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The movements were inspired by works of Worthington Wittredge, Thomas Hart Benton, Georgia O’Keefe, Charles Sheeler and Elliott Daingerfield.
Other works on the program are Poulenc’s Sonata for clarinet and bassoon, Susan Kander’s Two Hornéd Demons for viola and violin, Carlos Surinach’s Tres cantos bereberes for flute, oboe, clarinet, viola, cello, and piano and Sonata in A major, Op. 3 No. 12 for two violins and continuo by Arcangelo Corelli.
