Louis Vuitton Hosts American Composers Orchestra in the Magic Room
Posted by sequenza21 in Concert AnnouncementAmerican Composers Orchestra (ACO) will hold its Spring Benefit on Friday, May 1, 2009. The event will celebrate three generations of artistic leadership at a concert at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall (at 7:30 pm, 57th Street and 7th Avenue) and post-concert party hosted by Louis Vuitton at the Magic Room, LVMH Tower (9:30pm, 19 East 57th Street). A pre-concert dinner will be hosted for Benefit Ticket holders at Trattoria Dell’Arte (5:30 pm, 900 7th Avenue).
The Spring Benefit will honor ACO’s co-founder and conductor laureate, Dennis Russell Davies; artistic director, Robert Beaser; and Music Alive composer-in-residence, Derek Bermel. The concert features ACO’s groundbreaking Orchestra Underground ensemble performing the premieres of commissions by Beaser (a guitar concerto, with the extraordinary
Eliot Fisk) and Bermel, who is rounding out his three-year residency with the orchestra. The much-loved Davies will return to ACO’s podium for this special event, which also features a new piece by Lukas Ligeti and a work by the Austrian composer Thomas Larcher.
Tickets to ACO’s Spring Benefit are offered at $250 – $500, and may be purchased at
