The International Street Cannibals Present Non-Western Omelette Concert on December 16 at St Marks in-the-Bowery in Manhattan

The International Street Cannibals and guest artists, including dancers and non-Western instrumentalists, will present Non-Western Omelette, a From the Holding Tank series concert on Wednesday, December 16, 8:30 PM at St Mark’s in-the-Bowery, 131 East 10th Street (at 2nd Ave.) in Manhattan.
The concert event, in which classical and non-Western classical instruments are commingled, will include works by Luciano Berio, Dan Cooper, Guillaume de Machaut, Dary John Mizelle, Arvo Part, Takashi Yoshimatsu, and Gene Pritsker, along with several arrangements of, and improvisations on Tyrolean folk tunes. The presentation deals with ensemble combinations of classical and non Western instruments; short solo works composed for non-classical instruments; and duos and trios which utilize like timbres only – 2 bass clarinets, 2 trumpets, 3 celli, etc.
ISC performers will be Taka Kigawa and Conor Hanick, pianists, David Taylor, bass trombone, Dan Barrett, Leo Grinhaus and Joanne Lin, celli, Lynn Bechtold and Mioi Takeda, violins, Mat Fieldes, bass, Thomas Gansch and Franz Hackl, trumpets, Alex Gurevich, viola and Matthias Mueller and Michiyo Suzuki, bass clarinets. They will be joined by dancers Christina Ilisije, Rebecca Rainey and Megan Sipe, with bellydancer Amanda Mottur and tapdancer Max Pollak.
Featured guest artists will be Murray Mast, steelpan, Edmundo Ramirez, sitar and James “Nyoraku” Schlefer, shakuhachi flute.
