North/South Consonance, Inc. continues its 30th consecutive season of free admission concerts with a special program featuring the music of Max Lifchitz, the Mexican-born composer now celebrating 30 years at the helm of this organization.

The event will take place on Tuesday June 15 at 8 PM at the auditorium of Christ & St. Stephen’s Church (120 West 69th St) in Manhattan. Admission is free – no tickets necessary.

The versatile Max Lifchitz has been a dynamic figure in America’s musical life for a number of seasons. Born in México City and a long time New York resident, his activities as composer, pianist and conductor have established him as a true musical citizen of the world.

He has appeared on concert stages throughout Latin America, Europe and the United States and has recorded over 50 compact disc albums. “Mr. Lifchitz is as good on the podium as he is behind the piano….one of America’s finest exponents of contemporary piano music…” is how he was recently described by the American Record Guide. The San Francisco Chronicle described him as “a young composer of brilliant imagination and a stunning, ultra-sensitive pianist.”

The program will feature compositions written during the last 4 decades. It will include performances of Consorte (for viola and viola d’amore); Of Bondage and Freedom (for soprano, violin and piano); Three Songs for Soprano and Trumpet; Mosaico Latinoamericano (for flute and piano); Vignettes (for wind quintet); and Yellow Ribbons No. 22 (viola and piano), 39 (solo flute) and 43 (solo clarinet).

In addition to Mr. Lifchitz appearing as pianist, the evening performers will include sopranos Lielle Berman and Deborah Horne; flutists Jennifer Grim & Laura Falzon; clarinetist Marianne Gythfeldt; violinist Claudia Schaer; violists Edmundo Ramirez and Christiana Liberis; trumpeter Chris Bubolz; and The Zephyros Winds.

The artists are available for interviews and other media related events. They may be contacted through our office at (212) 663-7566 or via e-mail at ns.concerts@att.net
