On November 19, 2011, at 8 pm, the Garden State Philharmonic presents “Remembering Mahler! 100th Anniversary Tribute”, at the Strand Theater in Lakewood, New Jersey. The Zarathustra Fanfare , featured in “2001: A Space Odyssey”, will be among the pieces played. This concert includes Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D Major (The Titan), and is coupled with the World Premiere of Ippolito: Mahler Grooves. At 7:15 pm, included with all tickets is Musically Speaking, a Pre-concert Talk with Maestro Anthony LaGruth. This provides audience members with an opportunity to directly interact Maestro LaGruth, and broaden their musical horizons.
“Remembering Mahler” will be played in Lakewood, New Jersey, at the Strand Theater. The Strand is a National Historical Landmark, built in 1922, at a time when performers relied on their own voices. The Strand is known as one of the best acoustical theaters in the nation, with exemplary sight lines, and no obstructing pillars or uprights.
