David Winkler’s Venti for piano four-hands will be given its New York Premiere by pianists David Kalhous and Olga Vinokur on Friday, February 17 – 8:00 PM at Bargemusic, Fulton Ferry Landing in Brooklyn, New York, as part of their Here and Now series.
The composer writes about the work, “Venti was composed at the request of Olga Vinokur, to be premiered on this program. Olga told me that she needed a short, four minute piece to fill out the concert, so I composed this miniature for piano four-hands in December of 2011.”
“The title translated in English means “20” and refers to the number of fingers needed to play the work.”
Kalhous and Vinokur will also perform John Corigliano’s Gazebo Dances, David Lang’s Gravity, Morton Feldman’s Piano Three Hands, Conlon Nancarrow’s Sonatina for Piano and George Crumb’s Celestial Mechanics – Makrokosmos IV.
Tickets are $35 ($30 Senior, $15 Student). Reservations can be made at reserve@bargemusic.org. For directions to Fulton Ferry Landing, visit http://bargemusic.org/directions.html. For more information about Bargemusic, visit http://bargemusic.org/
