Pianist/Composer Haskell Small Part of Washington Conservatory Faculty Concert on November 3 at Westmoreland Congregational UCC Church in Bethesda, MarylandPosted by s21concerts in Concert Announcement
Pianist and composer Haskell Small will be in performance on Saturday, November 3 – 8 PM at Westmoreland Congregational UCC Church, One Westmoreland Circle in Bethesda, Maryland, as part of the Faculty Showcase concert presented by The Washington Conservatory.
Mr. Small will perform the World Premiere of his Sonatina for Flute and Piano with flutist David Lonkevich. The piece was written for Mr. Lonkevich (a member, like Mr.Small, of The Washington Conservatory faculty), and has a lyrical first movement followed by a wild dance. Faculty member Drew Owen will perform Mr. Small’s Suite for Solo Cello.
Haskell Small will also perform Alan Hovhaness’s Lullaby (from Sonata for piano, “Mt. Katahdin”, Op.405) and Mountain Dance No.2, Op.144b for piano.
Works by Purcell, Beethoven, Stamitz, Liszt, Brahms, Finzi, Chopin and Ravel will be performed by Washington Conservatory faculty members, including soprano Nancy Almquist, violinists Zina Gendel and Kathy Judd, pianists Jaewon Lee, Maribeth Gowen and Audrey Andrist and baritone Aurelius Gori.
