Composer Richard Brooks to Speak About Composer Georg Schoenberg on February 13 at Society of Composer’s. Inc. National Conference in OhioPosted by s21concerts in Uncategorized
Composer Richard Brooks will present The Other Schoenberg, a talk about the life and work of composer Georg Schoenberg, on Wednesday, February 13 at 3:00 PM as part of the Society of Composer’s Inc. National Conference at The Ohio State University School of Music in Columbus.
Georg Schoenberg (1906-74), was the Austrian-born son of Arnold Schoenberg and his first wife, Mathilde von Zemlinsky. He is the composer of the 1959 autobiographical cantata Mein Lebenslauf. Video artist Nancy Bogen has created a video to accompany the music, which can be seen at https://vimeo.com/57700758.
Mein Lebenslauf was never performed in Georg Schoenberg’s lifetime. The piece only existed in a piano-vocal score, so Ms. Bogen had Richard Brooks arrange it for vocal quartet and Pierrot Lunaire instrumental ensemble.
