Argentinean bandoneonist/composer Daniel Binelli and Uruguayan-American pianist Polly Ferman will perform Binelli’s Homenaje al Tango: Double Concerto for Bandoneon, Piano and Orchestra with the Camerata Argentina chamber orchestra, Pablo Agri, Artistic Director, on Friday, July 19 at 9:00 PM at Teatro Colon de Mar del Plata, Hipolito Yrigoyen 1665 in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
Homenaje is a 22-minute piece in three movements played without interruption. The movements are Gran Tango, Milonga-Candombe and Requiem. The piece was composed as an homage to Osvaldo Pugliese and Astor Piazzolla, Binelli’s two musical mentors. It was premiered in March 2009 by Polly Ferman and the composer on bandoneon with the Utah State University Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Sergio Bernal. The duo will also be in concert on Saturday, July 20, also at 9:00 PM at DAIN/Usina Cultural, Nicaragua 4899 in Buenos Aires. Mr. Binelli and Ms. Ferman will present a program featuring the music of Astor Piazzolla, as well as compositions by Daniel Binelli and other tango masters.
