C4 Choral Composer/Conductor Collective will present Heritage, the first concerts of its Innovate/Elevate 2013-14 New York season on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 8:00 PM at Church of the Transfiguration, 1 East 29th Street in Manhattan and Saturday, November 23 at 8:00 PM at Duffy Performance Space at Mark Morris Dance Center, 3 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn.

Heritage explores how folk traditions continue to influence new music. Featured works are Judith Bingham’s A Bird is Singing, Brent Michael Davids’ The Un-Covered Wagon, Steven Stucky’s Lulajże, Jezuniu from Cradle Songs, and the World Premiere of (C4 composer) Karen Siegel’s Shirei Shira. Other composers on the program are Emma Lou Diemer, C.A. Pinto Fonseca, Ester Mägi and Ethan Sperry. C4 composers Jonathan David, Joseph Rubinstein, and Bettina Sheppard are also showcased. Special guests will be Ensemble Dance, performing on several of the works with choreography by the group’s founder/director, Pilar Castro Kiltz (http://www.ensembledancepilar.com).
