Quintet of the Americas and the Binelli-Ferman Duo will present A History of Tango on Thursday, November 21 – 7:00 PM at Our Saviour’s Atonement Lutheran Church, 178 Bennett Avenue in Manhattan’s Washington Heights. The program is part of Latin American Cultural Week 2013 and the second year of Celebracion de la Cultura Hispana in Washington Heights.
Quintet of the Americas, the woodwind quintet widely-known for its performances of music from Latin America, will be joined by world-renowned bandoneónist Daniel Binelli and tango master pianist Polly Ferman for a program of music that spans the history of tango from the habanera to Piazzolla and the modern tango.
Repertoire will include works by Piazzolla, Albeniz, Salgan, and Mores, as well as music composed by Mr. Binelli including his New York Tango for quintet, piano, and bandoneon, commissioned by the Quintet.
