StevenGerber5The Music of Steven R. Gerber – an evening of his chamber and vocal music will be presented on Wednesday, November 20 at 8:00 PM at New York Society for Ethical Culture, 2 West 64th Street in Manhattan. This event will celebrate the composer’s 65th birthday.

Performers will be the West End Duo: Eveline Kuhn, flute and Arash Amini, cello, along with Cyrus Beroukhim, violin and viola, Allison Pohl, soprano and Steven Gerber, composer-pianist.

Works to be performed are 3 Poems of Ben Jonson for voice and viola (World Premiere), Spirituals (Book II) for flute and cello (NY Premiere), Dreamwork for flute, viola, cello, and piano, Elegy on the Name “Dmitri Shostakovich” for solo cello, 2 Antiphonal Pieces for cello and piano, Norma’s Variations for violin and piano, Fantasy, Fugue, and Chaconne for viola and cello, 5 Shakespeare Songs for voice and piano and 5 Selected Songs for voice and piano.

Admission is by $20 suggested contribution – $10 for students and members of The Society. The concert is a fundraiser for The New York Society for Ethical Culture in memory of Norma Hymes, the composer’s life partner for 25 years.
