C4: The Choral Composer/Conductor Collective will present C4x 4: New Music for Chorus with String Quartet, the second concerts of its Innovate/Elevate 2013-14 New York season on Thursday, March 6 at 8:00 PM at The Meeting Room at Judson Memorial Church, 55 Washington Square South in Manhattan and Saturday, March 8 at 8:00 PM at Issue Project Room, 22 Boerum Place (at Livingston Street) in Brooklyn.
New Music for Chorus with String Quartet presents extraordinary recent music for strings and voices—from the depths of Appalachian mines, to the shores of San Francisco, to Heaven. Featured works are Tarik O’Regan’s The Ecstasies Above and Veronika Krausas’ The Language of Birds, along with C4 composer Michael Conley’s Dies Irae from his “Appalachian Requiem.” The program also includes World Premieres of works by C4 composers Mario Gullo – The Other Day/Saw You Once/It’s Not Real, David Harris (C4 Alum) – Brief Hour and Martha Sullivan – Just. Special guests will be The Canite Quartet – Elizabeth Derham and Alex Shiozaki, violins, Isabel Hagen, viola and Sofia Nowik, cello.
