Quintet of the Americas Presents Tone and Color Concert on May 10 at Rockaway Center for the Arts in Queens, New YorkPosted by s21concerts in Concert Announcement
Quintet of the Americas, Queens renowned woodwind quintet, will present a concert focusing on the effects of the color of sounds in six pieces: Three Colors by Marcus Redden, Quintet by John Steinmetz (with references to medieval music), Goldfinch Variations by Douglaston-based composer James Cohn (who will be at the concert), Lejano azul (Distant Blue) by Luis Calvo, Mood Indigo by Duke Ellington and Matt Sullivan’s electronic arrangement of Danny Boy. The concert will connect to the two art exhibitions currently at Rockaway Artists Alliance which also focus on color: “Black and White All Over” and “Chroma”.
The performance will be followed by a discussion with the musicians, artists, and audience.

Members of the Quintet are Karla Moe, flute, Matt Sullivan, oboe, Nicholas Gallas, clarinet, Barbara Oldham, horn and Gina Cuffari, bassoon.
