Quintet of the Americas Presents Musical Color in the Garden Concert on June 15 at Queens Botanical Garden in Flushing, Queens, New YorkPosted by s21concerts in Concert Announcement
Quintet of the Americas, Queens renowned woodwind quintet, will present a concert focusing on the effects of the color of sounds in such pieces as Three Colors by Marcus Redden, Quintet by John Steinmetz (with references to medieval music), Goldfinch Variations by Douglaston-based composer James Cohn (who will be at the concert), Edward MacDowell’s To a Wild Rose, Lejano azul (Distant Blue) by Luis Calvo, Mood Indigo by Duke Ellington and Matt Sullivan’s Oh Boy!, an original work for solo oboe using multiphonics and circular breathing.
The performance will also include the Premiere of Milky Way Lovers, a new work by Queens composer Xinyan Li that expresses the story of the creation of two stars.
