On Friday April 19th, 7:30pm ExhAust New Music Collective will present a concert of all Australian works for voice and electronics, Sine and Syrinx. The concert will be performed as part of the Music at First series at the First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn, 124 Henry Street, Brooklyn Heights.Curated by acclaimed Australian soprano Jane Sheldon, the program includes works by both emerging and established composers Aristea Mellos, Amanda Cole, Rosalind Page, and Richard Vaudrey. The program is distinctive not only because of its Australian content, but also due to the fact that most of the composers featured are women, which is notable in an art form that tends to be heavily dominated by men.
ExhAust New Music collective is a group of Australian composers and performers committed to promoting the work of Australian musicians in New York. It has been active in its mission since 2011, and is co-directed and produced by Tim Hansen, Shaun Barlow and Lisa Moore.
