Before my week in Paris for Carter’s centenary conference at IRCAM, I made a mad dash up to Boston to hear the premiere of Interventions at the BSO. While there, studying the score during intermission, I found out that I was sitting next to Andrea Shea from NPR. Minutes later, she had a tape recorder going and we were talking about Elliott Carter.
Imagine my surprise on my return from Paris to find out that I was on the radio 12/10!
I’m on a little after the 2’30″ mark. Other than a minor mistake (Shea says I’m “working on my dissertation,” which I finished in 2001), I was tickled pink to be included in her article.
