May Memorial for Milton

In what is sure to be the first of a number of tributes, the Juilliard School is hosting a memorial for composer Milton Babbitt on May 3 at 5 PM in Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Babbitt taught at the school from 1971-2008 and remained an emeritus professor there until his death in 2011.

Speakers will include Juilliard President Joseph Polisi, composition faculty member Samuel Adler, and soprano Judith Bettina. ‘Musical excerpts’ (excerpting Babbitt – no mean feat!) will be performed by David Fulmer, Lucy Shelton, Robert Taub, and others.

The memorial will be open to the general public. For further information, call the Janet and Leonard Kramer Box Office at Juilliard at (212) 769-7406.
