Jens Lekman: “Become Someone Else’s” (Video)

Jens Lekman has shared a video for “Become Someone Else’s” via YouTube.
The track is from his new Secretly Canadian album, I Know What Love Isn’t.
Lekman appears on Jimmy Fallon’s show on October 9th.
Flying Lotus: “Putty Boy Strut” (Video)

An animated video from Flying Lotus doesn’t accomodate cute plush creatures. Instead, it is a robot filled allegorical tale featuring the destructive tendencies of population explosion, amoral technological innovation, and rampant consumerism. But there’s a silver lining amid the metallic trash: a cyborg butterfly rises from the detritus.
Warp releases the band’s new full length, Until the Quiet Comes, on 10/2.
Melody’s Echo Chamber: “I Follow You” (Video)
Dinosaur Jr.: “Pierce the Morning Rain” (Stream)
Yesterday, Spin premiered “Pierce the Morning Rain,” a track from the new Dinosaur Jr. album, I Bet on Sky. The LP is out today via Jagjaguwar and, as this lead off track demonstrates (embedded below), it is both shredding and catchy as all get out.

Rangda: “Majnun” (SoundCloud)

Out today on Drag City, Formerly Extinct, the sophomore release from Rangda. Guitarists Richard Bishop (Sun City Girls), Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance), and drummer Chris Corsano (Sunburned Hand of the Man) have enough studio credits between them to earn the designations “formative players” in both the psych rock and no wave arenas.
Below, we’ve included a SoundCloud embed of album track “Majnun.” Its outer sections set up a fulsome, Middle Eastern inflected groove, while the central section includes plenty of crunching guitar riffs leavened with walls of noise.
Spiritualized: “Take Me to the Other Side” (Video)
Animal Collective: “Today’s Supernatural” (Video)
The video for “Today’s Supernatural,” a song from Animal Collective’s new recording Centipede Hz is, in many ways, reflective of the impressions one takes away from the LP itself. Boisterous, colorful, busily attired, kaleidoscopically varied, and dizzying in the juxtaposition of its gestural and stylistic vocabularies, Centipede Hz is both a confirmation of the long term overarching trajectory of Animal Collective’s music making and an upping of the ante of indie pop’s penchant for postmodern juxtaposition.
If 2009′s Merriweather Post Pavillion was Animal Collective’s dalliance with the indie mainstream, Centipede Hz finds them back in more musically challenging environs. Whether the band will continue further down this pathway of experimentation, or instead return to the (relatively speaking) more pop functional language found on Merriweather Post Pavilion, Animal Collective seems destined in the future to find still more ways to surprise its listeners.
Centipede Hz is available now via Domino Records.
