I just found out today, that famous singer Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau passed away. He will be sadly missed. He left a big legacy for all classic musicians.

Woefully behind in my reading upon my return from Wales, I was very happy read your post on this concert–and also the earlier preview of it here, which I had bookmarked for reading before I left. I had a similar experience in Wales, about which I am now settling down to write. I know already, in trying to describe the experience of hearing this music and the interplay of west and east, that I won’t be able to come up with a line better than your last: “I have to say that seeing an erhu being played alongside a Western violin is something akin to seeing two living kindred spirits meeting for the first time and bonding for life.” Thanks for both articles, Chris, and for lifting up this incredible music to view for all of us.

So pleased you noted this piece. I have just searched out and played the excerpt available on Snider’s site, and now I want the whole of it! I gather it’s not yet recorded anywhere, and I hope that will soon be corrected. I agree with you in hoping Snider will get the opportunity to create more works for orchestra. I’m less keen on the film-scoring aspect, but that’s just me. Thank you, Christian, for highlighting the work of this wonderful composer.

Sorry but I don’t see anything special about this. There are many find performers/composers of this blues tinged rock style.

As for your premise the great ones are born with “it” is something I am surprised sequenza21 would post. I mean I thought this place was leaning a little more to intellectual discussion than fan adoration. If I wanted the latter I could go and read the comments at You Tube for this.
