It's Gone

I just loaded Finale 2008 on my computer and...it is gone. It was there, but now, it is gone.

The Mass Mover.

So now they have this "Selection Tool" and put all the Mass Edit functions in different menus, but that doesn't solve the problem.

THE RED TRUCK IS GONE!

I know that, somewhere around Finale 2002 that they did away with the red truck as their standard icon for the tool, but you could always find it. The Note Mover is still there and you can still see it as the boxcar icon, which is even sadder. It will be a constant reminder that the truck is gone.

I remember the good old days when, while the tool was processing, the wheels of the truck went around. When teaching Finale, I'd even sing "The Wheels on the Bus" while waiting for things to process. Supposedly, on Windows, smoke came out of the smokestack. I actually thought about using Windows when I heard that.

But now, the truck is gone. For 15 years I have relied on the red truck for all my moving/transposing/exploding needs. I always referred to it as "The Best Tool Ever."

Now it is gone. I don't care that you can record audio into Finale now. Give me back my truck.

*sigh* Change can be difficult.

Anyway, go listen to my piece on The Collected Podcast. It will cheer you up.
