Summer ad Parnassum (2:1 Ionian)

2:1 Above Cantus

What I like: I’m pretty satisfied with this one. I wrote it rather quickly and things just seemed to click into place.

What I don’t like: You see that leap of a 4th that I didn’t compensate for in measure 3? Well I didn’t see it until just now. This is one of those things that I should go back and fix but….nah. Oh, and I also just noticed that I didn’t compensate for the octave leap in measure 5. Gah. I still like this one, though. If Aloys has a problem with it, he knows where to find me. I’ll be waiting for him.

2:1 Below Cantus

What I like: Ditto with the above counterpoint. This came together quickly and worked out pretty well. Overall, I am pleased.

What I don’t like: I had to wimp out at the end and use another whole note before the cadence. There really wasn’t any other option that I liked. Also, I don’t know if the number of strong beat perfect intervals is problematic or not. I want to say they aren’t a problem, so I’m going to.
