The peer-to-peer music sharing network Grooveshark announced today the deal that Naxos of America recently brokered with them to make the 5,000 albums in the Naxos label catalogue accessible through their site.
According to their press release, Grooveshark allows people to download tracks that members contribute, charging a fee of no more than $.99; the company uses the charge to reimburse labels or appropriate copyright holders. They also have a sort of bonus system where users are rewarded with free downloads for active participation in the network.
I personally have never used Grooveshark. Has anyone out there come across them before? I invite any members or knowledgeable peoples to leave a comment. Will classical music fly on the system (apparently, Naxos is the first classical label to sign up)?
